The most popular social networks in Switzerland in 2022 were Linkedln, Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok,
Twitter, Pinterest and Youtube. Discover below the image formats to favor in 2023 to optimize your communication on social networks and enhance the display of your content.
- Linkedln profile photo: 400 x 400 px
- Cover image: 1584 x 396 px
- Company logo: 300 x 300 px
- Images in posts: 1200 x 1200 px
- Images for sponsored content: 1200 x 627 px
- Video advertising: 1920 x 1920 px
- Banner: 1584 x 396 px
- Stories: 1080 x 1920 px
The Facebook platform automatically resizes and formats the images you upload.
To ensure optimal viewing, favor the following formats:
Images linked to profiles and pages
- Profile photo: 2048 x 2048 px (minimum recommended: 761 x 761 px)
- Cover photo: 2050 x 780 px (minimum recommended: 851 x 315 px)
- Facebook page cover photo: 1958 x 745 px
- Facebook group cover photo: 1640 x 922 px
- Facebook event cover photo: 1000 x 524 px
Images linked to posts
- Square image: 2048 x 2048 px (minimum recommended: 492 x 492 px)
- Portrait image: 1364 x 2046 px (minimum recommended: 492 x 738 px)
- Image with link: 1200 x 628 px
- Video: 1080 x 1080 px
- Stories: 1080 x 1920 px
Profile image
The ideal size for a profile image should be a perfect square with a ratio between 110 x 110 px and 180 x 180 px, regardless of its original resolution.
Images linked to posts
- Square image: 1080 x 1080 px
- Horizontal image: 1080 x 566 px (566 px minimum to avoid cutting the image)
- Vertical image: 1080 x 1350 px (1350 px minimum to avoid cutting the image)
- Stories: 1080 x 1920 px
IGTV
- Vertical video: aspect ratio 9:16
- Horizontal video: aspect ratio 16:9
The video must be an MP4 file with a minimum resolution of 720 px.
If it lasts 10 minutes or less, its maximum size must be 650 MB.
If it lasts between 10 and 60 minutes, the video must not exceed 3.6 GB.
Remember that if you upload your video from your smartphone (and not from a computer), the maximum video length is only 15 minutes.
The video's cover image (thumbnail) will be visible on the Instagram feed and must measure 420 x 654 px and previews will be a crop centered at 4:5.

Pinterest accepts all kinds of formats for pins, however, one format is more ideal than
others:

YouTube
- Profile image: 800 x 800 px
- YouTube banner: 2560 x 1440 px
- Video thumbnail: 1280 x 720 px
- Video ad format: 1920 x 1080 px
- Horizontal screen advertising: 300 x 600 px
Since 2021, Youtube has been offering the Shorts format. Similar to Instagram's Reels and Tik Tok's vertical format, Shorts are a way for anyone to connect with their audience through simple videos shot on a smartphone. Shorts can be generated directly from the YouTube app, and YouTube's creative tools can be used to enhance the editing process.
With a maximum duration of 60 seconds, they follow the same formats as Tik Tok and Instagram, i.e. 1080 x 1092 px or an aspect ratio of 9:16.
